the best way to keep a track of everything is by allowing the agents to only a limited number of tickets between the 8-9am time period and not allowing the personal id's cause they have been a real big headache as anyone can create a fake id and book tickets blind folded

Dear Sir,
Mr. Ramayan and others they havent done any wrong. We are just raising our voice as owing to few culprits who have used softwares like valley.in and others . Railway should bok them for wrong doing. We general agents who earn their livelihood form ITCTC would never think of going for such things.
All the sacms which have come in light have been done through private ids. why dont railway block the private id. Or even if they want to issue private ids they should attach norms to it. Like providing PAN Card No. to get a personal user id created.
As no agent will ever dare to go against IRCTC norms. As his complete details is with IRCTC.
The same case should be with Persoonal IDs.

All the ids without PAn card should be blocked. and for getting a Personal user ID all the norms should be followed in the same way as for agents. Only there should be requirment of no fees.

Why the customers are going to come to us if we are not able to give them all the services. They will look for options and for the people who are not even IRCTC agents i.e. dalals and will pay them hefty amounts to get their ticket booked. Dont you think so.
After paying a hefty amount to become and agent. Then paying for montly expenses, renewal charges, Infrastructure cost, Staff , electricty. Do you think we are going to survive.

Yes I agree with your that e-ticketing is transparent and fraud is done by railway staff sitting at reservation counters with the help of dalals at counter. Its been noticed that when we tell our regular customer that sets are in wait-list, in his next visit he tells us that " last time youtold that seats are in W/L but i got a confirmed ticket on the station with the help of a dalal. When the online information shows ticket are in W/L how can a cutomer get a confirmed ticket?. This clearly shows that railway staff is 100% involved in blocking the seats & sell those seats to their appointed agents where in they get their commission in return. This mainly happens because railway have kept no rule of ID -Proof for station tickets like the e-ticket rule of ID compulsory for normal or tatkal ticket. If the ID proof is made compulsory for normal as well as tatkal station counter tickets then all the Aam Admi problem will be solved. Banning of E-ticket agent is of no use. public approach e-ticket agents because
they dont have to stay in separate line one for inquiry & other for reservation for hours as agent provide them information of availability of Vacant Seats & plane their up& down journey seating under one roof, which service is not provided at station counter.so agent charging 50 for his service is reasonable charge.

I am am travel agent.read all positive and negitive comments about the agents .Fine we belive we charge more but its for the customer we do. And we dont inpose on them? when thy come to us we clearfy our rates thy agree to we go ahead and for getting tickets we pay high internet charges which as said in above discussions "aam aadmi " does not pay 300kbps at max and then you expect to get a ticket were there are 230 tickets avalabale and 500 people who want them. We dont take the tickets home? its for the people only. If u have a mastery in ur business and u charge more for it that urs so call "professional charge" but if agents charge we r wrong ths not done ! I agreee with people its better dont make agents only put it purely for Aam Admi only then see the scenes that take place . Kya agent ek agent amm admi nai hota usne bhi to 10000 deposit , ek high speed internet, staff ka investment kiya hota he uska wo retrun nai lega? taking more then appro is also wrng but when this aam admi will stand our shoes he will realise what we bare eveng after paying so much and what Aam admi gets paying noting he is on priories.

You might be charging very nominal fees towards booking a tatkal ticket, but most of the agents are taking exsorbitant price for the same. Some times they are charging 1000 Rs. for a ticket which is not at all justified. I think it's a very good move by IRCTC to block all the agents from booking tatkal tickets from 8to 9 AM. Now IR has to take stern actions against touts who use to occupy reservation counter from early morning as well reservation clerks, who are also making money from this racket.
Dear, We are (Agents) given useful service and helped to persons who are not capable to stand in line from morning 4-5 am for booked tatkal ticket at reservation counter. We charge very lowest rate and give confirm ticket, We wake up early and customer can sleep and journey without trouble..........

I have read few of the comments, most of the comments written here are by agents, at one place they are saying at 8 AM, site is not available so they can't book the tatkal ticket, and at other place they are saying IRCTC's move to ban agents is not justified, it's highly contradictory, if they are not able to book tickets at 8 AM then why they are complaining about barring them form booking the tickets at 8 AM? These agents are just the problem creators, now in next move Railway should randomly decide on the duty of reservation clerks, so that touts should not know in advance who is going to be there at the reservation window at that time.
We welcome this move of IRCTC.
The current anarchy is the result of senseless decision taken by IRCTC and IR. Agreed that some agents may be using software to book tickets, but that does not mean all the agents across India are using the same tactics to book tickets. Moreover, the so-called 'Aam Aadmi' of India is not tech-savvy to book a ticket from very unreliable IRCTC site. I personally feel, barring few agents, most of the agents were doing a commendable job by providing tickets to the Aam Aadmi so that they do not have to stand in long 'Q's. IRCTC should understand that India is not America. All the households do not have computer and Internet connection. Even if they go to cyber-cafe to book ticket, most of the cyber cafes open only after 10:00 AM when all the Tatkal tickets are already booked. How can a labourer, who wants to visit his native place, can book a ticket? IRCTC should understand the hard realities of Indian populace. Can IRCTC provide a solution to this Labourer? If yes...I feel, all the agents should be permanently banned. It is clearly visible that after Star News Report with Loud Emotional words, IRCTC is in a state of Panic. But it should understand, media just needs hype - "STAR NEWS KI KHABAR KA ASAR". The real impact is that today Aam Aadmi is in more horrible situation. Star News should also cover long queues and woes at PRS Counters, Corrupt Rail Babus and Touts. IRCTC should consider things in right perspective. The decision to allow only individuals to book ticket would benefit only few urbane, educated people who possess the computer and Internet and know its operation and the method to book ticket. IRCTC come out of panic, look at the ground realities and act accordingly.

After reading all comments I have a simple question to all those who are in favor with IRCTC blocking the agents.Because I am against IRCTC for blocking the agents . How many times it has happened that you have tried booking tatkal ticket from 8am -9 AM and in what season and you failed (festive seasons like HOLI ,DIWALI ) Obviously in such festive seasons almost everyone – common people-through friends ,friends of friends ,family members ,neighbors and agents try to crack the nut i.e booking tickets through IRCTC website .According to comScore, the IRCTC website was the top visited Indian travel site in April 2010, with 7.7 million visitors which is a big figure.And around 5 Million people try to login for TATKAL tickets at 8 AM in festive seasons.Normally the number is around 1-2 million. Any damn website would shiver if millions of people are trying to login at the same time -and in which some somehow succeed and manage to book .But if we say that a million are Travel agents of irctc it would be very stupid.Only 25% are travel agents and rest are common people as found. Fact is that all IRCTC Travel agents have is JUST A PRACTICE TO TYPE FAST, AND TO LOGIN AT A RIGHT MOMENT thats it .This any common man would learn if he is booking the tickets regularly and most of them including me does that. They are the ones who manage to get the tatkal tickets in bulk with anonymous names and then sell each with double fares. This is the reason as 70 % of seats are taken by dalals and touts. So if a IRCTC travel agent is taking rupees 50 for his extra ordinary skills to book a tatkal ticket ..its very reasonable especially when you cannot go to station and cannot book through IRCTC website either. Think about some of those old and helpless people who cannot do either of the two things mentioned above. For them IRCTC agents are gift of god.
In my opinion blocking agents from 8 to 9 is a bad decision by Railways .Main loophole is within the railways itself .Until and unless there is a proper functioning of railway reservation office , closing of IRCTC website will also not help.

I agree with your questions and I would like to add that at the time of making agents there rules were very different to attract the people, to have IRCTC agency but after making 8 lacs agents and collecting Rs. 10000/- from each agent, IRCTC have now changed their rules according to their own conveynience. Nobody in the railway authorities are bothering about the income of these agents.
It is one type of curruption on the part of IRCTC authorities that they took Rs. 10000/- from each agent as security deposit amount which will not be given back. Inspite of taking this amount from each agent they are not giving satisfactory service to agent and nor to the people of India.

I think this is a good move.
But really i doubt if this has been implemented. Last week when i tried to book a tatkal ticket from b'lore to Hyderabad, i saw the availability as 213 tickets, just next min it jumped to WL 71. shocking isn't it. Its so wierd. Whether this is the problem in IRCTC site or agents, i dont know.
I think even the agents ticket should also be converted to E-ticket instead of I-ticket. The agents are the ones who are a major obstacle for the general public to book their tickets.
Agents should not be allowed to book tatkal tickets. Tatkal is for someone to travel on a emergency. Not for the agents who make money out of it.

This is not going to help any body. Since, Counter Side brokers are there, they will block all tickets during peak period and charge more money from us. I have seen such things. A counter side broker in my town (Virudhunagar) is entering into booking Clerk room and giving more than 15 to 20 forms at a time around 8.00 AM. But innocent people who is waiting ouside the counter dont know that. The counter is opening at 8.02 AM. Booking Clerk is telling no tickets available. How railways are going to ban such things.

I have an IRCTC account which is locked second time.
When i tried to reset the password through forget password link, it asks User id, question and Answer. I provided all the details and it throws an error "Answer is Incorrect". This happend second time and both the times i tried to login through the actual password.
I waited for a week and there was no response from IRCTC customer care. I called them up on 24 Hrs. Customer Support at 011-23340000 and it took about 12 calls to make them understand about the issue. When ever i called up the customer support the person attnding the call will redirect me to someone else after listening to my detail and again i need to explain whole story, inshort that was waste of time and money.
I sent an email at care@irctc.co.in also submit at http://www.consumercourt.in/railways/14030-irctc-login.html and got an automated email as Ticket Confirmation for the request.
IRCTC should hire service and satisfaction oriented support executives so that it a common man has no pain of wasting time and money.
now this time every can book tatkal ticket online very essay.
if you want you can try i book tatkal ticket @ 8:2:30 am

this is good but this is not session time. when session time came means diwali, march april school holiday that time irctc server working or not no idea....
i see mostly north side people not get conform ticket and i think these people complained ki tatkal ticket nahi milta

I feel this is highly ridiculous move, INDIAN's will have to again stand in long que's or pay the agents higher to stand on these railway counters.
IRCTC could not scale up there infrastructre to take care of higher hits in morning they are covering up there ASS rather then resolving infrstructure bottelnecks.

hey its a good decision but i think they should take some more precaution against these agents as they can book tickets as a individuals also and also solve site loading problem basically at the peak hour of 8-9 am.

A real good move by the railways.This should have been done long ago.These agents had made life hell for the passengers charging exorbitant amount for a single ticket.
they used to charge 500 to 1000 per ticket as if inke baap ka rail ho.

No one is preventing a travel agent from registering on IRCTC website as an individual and book rail tickets for their customers.
I don’t think travelling on such tickets would be illegal as long as the ticket is booked in the name of the customer and he carries an id card while travelling to prove this.
After all, the Indian Railways had never asked travellers to book tickets on their own and not by someone else.
The whole issue is not if an agent should be allowed to buy tatkal ticket or not but should the agent get a preferential treatment for booking a rail e-ticket.
I mean, how come when common people cannot book a tatkal ticket because the IRCTC website is down, the agents continue booking tatkal tickets through a different and dedicated website specially made for them.
That’s DISCRIMINATION and it must be stopped.
This is really bad, IRCTCT SHOULD stop giving access to the webbased booking like, oneshop, onedesk, payworld, thesmartshop, suvidhaa, and lots more like this and give access to the agent who books ticket through the IRCTC sites. now the site is working smoothly from 8am. keep going on. pls ban the web based sites, as they can generate the more than 100 pnr in a minutes and give access to the agent, who uses IRCTC sites to book the tickets.
some other webbased sites are, itzcash portal, onestop, onedesk, thesmartshop, suvidhaa, payworld(sugal & damani group), 3i infotech,
IRCTC folks should put some superfast computers / servers on its networks instead of blocking some out.

GIVE REPLY for the news broadcasted by AAJTAK regarding railway officials involvement along with Brokers. IRCTC website updates as per the issuance of Agents and increase in user IDs day by day. Sale of tickets like Railway Quota, VIP Quota, Handicap or Defence Qouta by railway authorities. How is it possible that all tickets for Trains Departing from HOWRAH are booked before three days. Mamta Banarjee State Server Officials are booking the tickets from source to destination and changing the Boarding Point where the boarding point changes after 00.00 hrs prior to release of Tatkal Quota. If general public tries to do the same Sequence of Rules and Regulations for them. Do they know there is a subject like BUSINESS ETHICS where the agents should not be issued upto certain distance for smoother functioning. If not why not Govt. Counters are not established in same ratio. In India there are several rules to harrash the passangers by TTE, Squad, Railway Cooli, Railway Booking Authorities, IRCTC, Logage Booking and many more IS THERE ANY ONE RULE FOR GENERAL PUBLIC TO ESCAPE FROM THEM? Approaching to court for justice or RTI does not lighten the burden of Passangers rather it enhances financial and mental herrashment to public.

This is not the solution for this problem. Railway should increase the tatkal quota and then see........... everyone will get ticket and Railway will also earn huge money. Everyone should get ticket in tatkal quota by paying extra money. They should make Tatkal and Super tatkal in which they should charge even more then tatkal charges but passanger should get a confirm ticket. Kamao aur kamane do...........

irctc ko bolo dhanda bandh kare mobile ka re- charge seal kare. there is less invest more profit. similarly, if you dont have to take the load in tatkal times,why you did agreement with agent like oss,oxigen, itz, flightraja, done card etc who is taken the agency against the lacs of investment. who will carry the cost. if its politikes, plz stop all nonsence.
one agent take servise charge max. 50/- or 100/- per ticket if cnf. But counter broker is charge 250/- per pasanger, today i went countre for tatkal this thing happen.

Aaj ke tarikh mein Har Insaan ke pas internet connection nahi hai ke wo khud ghar par se khud ka takal ticket nikal sake. Kahi kahin pe PRS Bahut door hai. Ye Aam Janta Ko Pareshani mein dalne wali baat hai bhai log.

This is really bad, earlier atlest u will get your reservation by agent, or by broker.
But now, you can not stand in line, then you have to go to the countre and pay more money to the only broker,(This is for normal booking).
Agent can book at a time 7 to 8 PNR but in countre, only one PNR for one person..............UNDERSTOOD
