Multi-city start-up accelerator, GSF that provides seed funding to promising Indian start-ups has announced its 2013 Summer Program by introducing group of Entrepreneurs in Residence (EiRs) in Asia.
The 13 global leaders come from diverse geographic and functional backgrounds and range in age from 19 to their early forties. They have worked at and led some of the most exciting companies in the world, reads a staement.
Incepted in 2012 by Rajesh Sawhney, GSF is a tech accelerator backed by 20 Indian and five funds from across the world. The program provides promising startups in the mobile, local, social, cloud, and impact spaces unparalleled access to venture networks, personalized and intensive mentoring, and initial capital.
2013 GSF Entrepreneurs in Residence
Delhi
Rishab Malik: Rishab is an entrepreneur, a sportsman and a traveler who has lived in five countries and traveled to over 25. Raised in Delhi and educated in France, Singapore, and the US, he is a Founding Member of the Hub Singapore and has started two tech companies of his own on two different continents. Rishab studied economics at The University of Texas and also has an MBA from INSEAD.
Tanuj Moore : After four years of investment banking in New York, Tanuj followed a similar journey through Food Ka Mood, Mumbai’s first online food ordering portal which he founded and then successfully exited in 2012. He earned his undergraduate degree Cum Laude from Ohio Wesleyan University.
Marina Zolotoverkh : Marina brings to GSF broad consulting expertise in IT, finance, and capital markets as well as in marine shipping and audit. She is an avid traveler, diver, and a multilingual, speaking English, Russian, Ukrainian as well as basic German and Hindi. Marina holds MSc in Banking & Finance from University of Leeds (UK) a Master’s Degree in Audit and State Financial Control from Kiev National Economic University (Ukraine), and an MBA from INSEAD.
Adam Caplan: Adam comes to GSF from a career at the intersection of entrepreneurship and development. He launched the Aga Khan Foundation’s Impact Investing Initiative and has a passion for entrepreneurs who boldly attack pressing global challenges. Restless for new cultures and people, Adam has worked on four continents in the past year and holds a Masters in International Business and Development Economics from The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University.
Mumbai
Vikul Goyal: Vikul is a global energy guru with field experience in Africa, India, and the Middle East. Since being named National Talent Search Scholar in 2000, he has built an impressive portfolio that pushes the next frontier of energy exploration that will power our planet. Vikul holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a bachelor of technology in mechanical engineering from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Guwahati.
Sanjay Jain: In more than two decades of work that defies definition Sanjay applied his talents to organizations like Coca-Cola, Allianz Group, Bajaj Allianz, Ogilvy, Times of India Group and Reliance Capital. He has proven success record of challenging leadership across diverse consumer industries of FMCG, Media, Retail Finance, Investments, Insurance, Home and Commercial Lending. He is an economics graduate and has a PGDMM in marketing.
Rachna Manwani: You would think Rachna has been preparing to be an EiR her whole career with expertise in customer segmentation, traditional, digital and social marketing analytics, market research, data warehousing, big and medium data solutions, sales force strategy operations management. She has a MBA from Chicago Booth School of Business, a Masters in Management Information Systems and a Bachelors in Biomedical Engineering.
Damini Satija: Damini is a student at the University of California, Berkeley studying Economics. She was raised in England and India. She has worked with social entrepreneurs in both London and Mumbai in the areas of criminal rehabilitation and 'equity based' education funding.
South (Bangalore and Chennai)
Brij Bhasin: Brij has somehow managed to live most of his life in either one of the hottest (Nagpur, India) or the coldest (Minneapolis, USA) places in world, before finally landing in Bangalore. Software geek by training and startup guy by nature, he is a serial entrepreneur with over 10 years of experience in creation and delivery of Technology products. Brij has a Bachelor’s in Computer Science from University of Minnesota, Minneapolis.
Bhavna Toor: Bhavna is a true global citizen, having grown up in India, Bangladesh, Nigeria, U.K., Tanzania, and the U.S. A former Miss India New York, actress, model, dancer, TV anchor, and avid marathon runner, Bhavna’s true passion is providing young social entrepreneurs a platform to affect change. She has an MBA from New York University’s Stern School of Business.
Srinath Gaddam: Srinath recently moved from Boston to India and is excited to build a strong ecosystem for Indian entrepreneurship. He has been a project manager and executive, identifying new business opportunities and launching new products for the information security market. Srinath has an MBA from the Indian School of Business in Finance and Strategy, and an M.S. and B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
Chris Kieran: Chris is passionate about sustainability, food and design. He managed the research programs of the Yale Center for Business and the Environment and worked at a San Francisco food-‐tech startup before co-‐founding the New York-‐ based crowdfunding company Zokos. His work has been covered by TIME, Forbes, Wired, The Wall Street Journal, The Financial Times, and The Economist. Chris has a Masters Degree from the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies.
Jery Althaf: Prior to becoming a Young India Fellow in 2012, Jery cofounded DialBlood.com, an initiative to connect blood donors to recipients through a phone call. He is also on the organizing team of the Global Humanitarian Technology Conference in Silicon Valley. Jery did his engineering degree from College of Engineering Trivandrum and worked for a year at Mahindra and Mahindra.
