Truecaller gets $18.8M investment from Sequoia Capital and partners with Yelp
07 Feb 2014

Mobile phone community, TrueCaller has raised an investment of $18.8M in funding led by Sequoia Capital.

Other investors who participated in the funding included existing investors Open Ocean, Truecaller Chairman Stefan Lennhammer and an unnamed private investor.

Truecaller also announced its collaboration with the Yelp- an American company that operates a directory and business review site. Citing the idea behind integration with Yelp, a post on Truecaller’s official blog said “..to integrate a higher level of information for our Truecaller users.”

With Yelp integration, Truecaller users can now identify local, national and international businesses and also view their Yelp rating.

The blog further added, “The ability for users to take advantage of Yelp’s local listings follows on a major partnership that we forged with Twitter to allow users to tweet and follow other users directly through the Truecaller app.”

Lastly Truecaller also launched 4.0 for iOS. As reported by India Digital Review, the 4.0 design, was launched for Android users in December last year. The Verified Badge, amongst two other badges, is now available for iOS. This badge will be shown on a user's profile if they have written their real name, and Truecaller's intelligent technology agrees the name is true.
