Mobile phone community Truecaller announced that it has collaborated with the social media site Twitter for the release of Truecaller 4.0 for Android.
This integration of Truecaller with Twitter will allow users to be able to see if a number is connected with a Twitter account and enable them to tweet or follow a person directly through the Truecaller app.
A blog post on Truecaller's official blog said, "Today we are overjoyed to introduce Android users to a new design built from the ground up, with personalized features, and maybe the most exciting announcement; a partnership with the social broadcasting network, Twitter."
India is the first country where Truecaller is launching this collaboration.
The blog post further added, "Our partnership with Twitter will begin in India. This represents the first time that Twitter content can be accessed in this way, leading to a more robust social experience for millions of users."
The integration with Twitter will allow users to tweet back on a missed call and view if a number is connected to Twitter through reverse number search and incoming calls. The new version of Truecaller also offers a new design.
Truecaller 4.0 also segregates users in three categories using badges- Verified, Premium and Ambassador. The Verified badge symbolizes that a user's name is true, according to Truecaller phone community. The Premium badge is if a user has upgraded to a Premium account, and the Ambassador badge is for the Truecaller team members and Truecrew brand ambassadors.
Truecaller 4.0 is currently available for Android in the Google Play Store and will be released for iOS in the beginning of 2014.
