Rocket Internet backed online food ordering service, FoodPanda has appointed Rohit Chadda as its Co-founder and Managing Director in India. He will also be serving as the Product Head for Asia region. While Rohit will be concentrating on optimising operations and ensuring the highest quality of customer experience on the portal Co-founder and Managing Director, Amit Kohli, will continue to concentrate on Sales and Marketing.
Rohit comes with a diversified background of investment banking, business strategy and software engineering having worked with Bank of America Merrill Lynch in London, Hong Kong as well as Mumbai. He has also received the Aditya Birla Award for Business Leadership in 2007-08 & 08-09.
Speaking on his new role, Rohit said “I see a lot of scope in making FoodPanda the medium through which people order their food. We aim at securing a dominant share of the est INR 5,000 crore food delivery market in India in the next five years. Having already launched in 10 cities, we target scaling the company’s growth to 16 cities with 5000 partner restaurants within this year.”
Recently, FoodPanda secured over USD 20 million funding from a group of investors including Investment AB Kinnevik and Phenomen Ventures. The company focuses on emerging markets, operates together with its affiliated brand HelloFood.
FoodPanda claims to serve with 1800 restaurants across 10 cities (Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida, Faridabad, Ghaziabad, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Pune, Bangalore and Chandigarh).
