Manu Jain, co-founder of Jabong quits; to start his own online venture

Manu Jain, IIT graduate and co-founder of Gurgaon based e-commerce portal Jabong has moved on to start his own venture. Part of Germany’s Rocket Internet Group, Jabong was founded by Arun Chandra Mohan, Praveen Sinha and Lakshmi Potluri and joined later by Manu Jain as co-founder and managing director.

The other two co-founders Mohan and Sinha continue to be with the company.

Confirming the development to The Financial Express, Jabong.com stated that he had left the company last week. Details of Jain’s plans remain undisclosed and are expected to be come out next month.

In an interview with FE three months back Jain said he believes his best phase is yet to arrive. He has worked previously with McKinsey & Co for five years, which he said he did for imbibing the benefits of a process-driven environment and carefully evaluating business opportunities before taking the plunge to become an entrepreneur.

As reported by India Digital Review, a report titled ‘Indian e-Commerce: Landscape and Trends’ released by internet analytics company, comScore last year revealed that Jabong (11.6mn) was the most visited retail website followed by Flipkart  (10.7mn) and Amazon (10.7mn) in terms of unique visitors.
