Shailesh Rao resigns from Google as MD, JAPAC; headed to Twitter

Shailesh Rao, Managing Director, Media and Platforms, JAPAC, Google has put in his papers in the company, reports exchange4media. Google India has also confirmed the development. BusinessWeek reports that Twitter Inc. said it plans to hire Shailesh Rao.

The report quotes a Google spokesperson saying, “We thank Shailesh for his fantastic contributions to Google and Google India, in particular and wish him the best in his future endeavours."

Shailesh Rao joined Google in March 2005 as the Director of local search. In 2007, Rao was named the Managing Director of Google India. Prior to this, he was a Vice-President of Products at Yodlee. In January 2012, Shailesh Rao was named the Internet Professional of the Year 2011 at IAMAI’s 2nd India Digital Awards.
