According to the Annual Digital Advertising report jointly published by the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) and IMRB, Digital Advertising is expected to reach Rs 4,391 crore by March 2013 and Rs 3,535 crore by the end of this calendar year. Currently the market is pegged at Rs 2,851 crore.
The report further said that Travel and BFSI continued to be the main spenders as far as Display Ads are concerned. The Display Ad spend by Auto companies has appreciably increased. Its overall share has risen from 9 per cent in FY2010 to 13 per cent in FY2011 to 14 per cent in FY2012.
On an average, the digital ad spends have been growing at 25% year-on-year basis. This is reflected in the following chart. According to publicly available sources, the total size of offline advertising market including Print, TV, OOH, Radio, Cinema is Rs 26,501 crore in the year 2012. Compared to this, the digital market at INR 2851 crores is almost 11% of the conventional medium.
Mobile:
The findings further revealed that mobile advertising in this country will touch Rs 144 crore by 2013. As of March 2012, the market is pegged at Rs 105 crore. Mobile ads accounted for about Rs 90 crore of the total Indian digital advertising industry in March 2011. The share of Mobile ads has grown by 17 per cent, valued at Rs 105 crore in March 2012. This is slated to reach Rs 144 crore by 2013, which will be approximately 4 per cent of the total digital advertising spend, which is expected to reach Rs 4,391 crore by March 2013.
According to the report, in FY 2012, out of the different forms of mobile advertisements, those viewed on Mobile Browser or WAP forms comprised the largest share of mobile advertising at 75 per cent. While, Rs 21 crore was spent on In-App Advertising, about Rs 5 crore was spent on SMS.
