27 Sep 2013

Mumbai based real estate portal, Housing.co.in has bought Housing.com domain and a national number 03-333-333-333 for a total sum of over $1 million. The domain has been bought at $500 k. This is company’s first step towards expanding internationally. It is expected to hit its first international expansion within the next six months.

The company will continue to hold ownership of Housing.co.in and users accessing the domain will be redirected to Housing.com.

“We have been getting a lot of traction from prospective partners from other countries. And they are more than willing to invest in their countries initiative,” said Advitiya Sharma, co-founder, Housing.co.in.

The venture has been on expansion spree and has expanded its operations in Chennai, Ghaziabad and Noida recently. The addition of Ghaziabad and Noida comes as a boost to Housing’s presence in the NCR constituency while Chennai is Housing’s South Indian debut city.

In June this year, Housing.co.in raised $2.5mn funding from Nexus Venture Partners. In March the company raised a second round of funding from former Network 18 CEO, Haresh Chawla. The amount remains undisclosed. In February this year, the startup has raised an undisclosed sum from a group of angel investors, led by Zishaan Hayath.

It also appointed Richa Bansal, the founder and former managing director of online jewellery portal, 21Diamonds.in  as Chief Business Officer.
