Zomato rebrands itself and gets a new logo
21 Oct 2014

Online and mobile restaurant search and discovery service, Zomato has unveiled its new logo and rebranding. In the company’s official blogspot, Deepinder Goyal, Founder & CEO at Zomato informs the users, its new recruits and the advertisers about these changes.

The new Heart logo is meant to transcend languages and cultures.  It captures the story of millions of meals and experiences being shared with a vast global community of “people and food.” The logo signifies the company’s connection with those who share its passion for food, who diligently chronicle their food experiences so that others are able to make better choices.

He talks about the company’s journey over the period of the last six years.  Zomato, which was started as a little experiment to provide information about Restaurants and Cafes, has today more than 30 million users, who use Zomato to ensure that their next meal is not a disappointment.

In the blog post, Goyal says, “Zomato was built for the love of food – the one thing that stirs universal emotion. Our fondest memories are intricately woven with those of the people we were with, and the food we loved. Our food stories are perhaps the most told stories.”

He further adds that nowadays people spend way too much in front of their screens on the digital social networks, so much so that people have stopped connecting with others in real life. But the company believes that a good meal, along with good company, is where one find answers to all of life’s challenges.

Talking about the purpose of Zomato, Goyal says, “We want people to spend more time with each other than with their phones (ironically, by means of our app on your phone). And while we are at it, we will try to ensure that every meal, for everyone, is a great experience. We raise the bar for the restaurant industry by making restaurants accountable to their customers. We guide people to places that help create unique and memorable food experiences for our users, and provide a platform for critical feedback to reach places that don't.”

The company has also made its first push into North America with the launch of its Toronto section. Zomato covers over 11,000 restaurants in the Greater Toronto Area and is available on web and mobile (iOS, Android, Windows Phone, and Blackberry).

Deepinder Goyal, Founder and CEO of Zomato said, “We're proud to include Toronto in our growing list of world-class cities. It boasts of a vibrant restaurant industry, and Canada is a hugely promising market for us. We’ve earmarked US $10 million for our expansion in Canada, and are committed to making Zomato the go-to restaurant discovery service in the country. Canada is truly a great starting point for us before we think of getting into the United States.”
