Shopping search engine, ShoppingWish.in has raised undisclosed amount of angel funding from Sandeep Johri and four other angel investors from New York and Silicon Valley.
The venture has been founded by co-founder of music streaming portal Dhingana, Sushil Choudhari and ex- Microsoft hand, Madhur Khandelwal in June 2012.
As of today, the portal claims to have more than 3.5 million listed products in various categories. The user base for the price comparison site has grown in excess of 50 percent since December 2012. Currently the company is working with Homeshop18, Croma, Flipkart, Snapdeal among 100+ other retailers.
The Pune based startup has planned to launch mobile apps for Android and iOS in the next quarter. The company is also planning to gain entry into newer segments, including fashion and lifestyle, baby products and home furnishings categories. Price analysis, price trends and integrated coupon experience are some of the features easing the customer experience and this sets ShoppingWish apart from its competitors, claims the company.
Currently ShoppingWish is competing with a few other players in this space including Amazon's Junglee, MySmartPrice (backed by Accel and Helion). The startup makes revenue on the affiliate model via conversions. Unlike traditional retailers, ShoppingWish does not process the orders itself, but directs the customer to the merchant site once a product and seller is chosen.
