Facebook will be rolling out Internet.org in India in partnership with Reliance Communication, reports Medianama. India could be the first country in Asia to get the Internet.org app.
Reliance Communication has sent out several invites to the media inviting them to attend a launch event tomorrow. Here is the invitation:
A press conference will be held on 10 February 2015 from 12 noon onwards, at Hotel Taj Vivanta, Mumbai, which will be jointly hosted by Reliance Communication and Facebook.
According to Trak.in, Senior Global Leadership Teams from Reliance Communication and Facebook will be personally present at the event venue to share details of the announcement.
Facebook has already launched the Internet.org app in five countries namely, Ghana, Zambia, Tanzania, Kenya and Colombia. The app was launched in Colombia just last month, which is the first nation in Latin America to receive the new Internet.org service, in partnership with local mobile phone provider Tigo.
With Internet.org app, Facebook offers free access to some apps like Facebook, Messenger, BBC News and Wikipedia, among others.
