Percept Knorigin accused of copying MNIK website code to build BummBummBole.com

Idealake Information Technologies, which had earlier developed the official website of the Hindi movie My Name Is Khan, has accused Percept Knorigin, the digital media company that has developed the official website of the movie Bumm Bumm Bole, of copying the code of MyNameIsKhanTheFilm.com to develop BummBummBole.com. Bumm Bumm Bole hit the screens nationwide on May 14, 2010.

According to Idealake, the look and feel of MyNameIsKhanTheFilm.com and BummBummBole.com appear to be very similar to each other and even the navigation tabs are almost the same. Also, the footer of both the websites appear to be pretty close with the name of the cast and crew written in closely matching fonts.

“This is not inspiration rather, this is a simple copy and the company even has the audacity to name it as their own work. I am not sure about what the compulsion they had but it brings a lot of disrespect to the industry we are working in where a bigger player copies the work of a smaller player,” Viraj Sawant, CEO, Idealake Information Technologies, told AlooTechie,

Viraj Sawant further said that his company wants an apology from Percept Knorigin and a change in the code structure of BummBummBole.com. “MNIK is still running across all parts of the world and I owe this to my client. We don’t want people to feel that we have copied some other website’s code,” Sawant added.

When AlooTechie contacted Viraj Malik, CEO, Percept Knorigin, to know his comment on the accusation, Malik said, “Percept Pictures (producer of the Bumm Bumm Bole film) actually asked us to develop a website with similar kind of navigation and as far as my knowledge goes, we have not copied any code from any website. But still, if anybody can send some credible evidences that state us guilty, we are prepared to take and face appropriate action.”

"Percept Knorigin" say thanks to "Idealake Information Technologies",co. they had given you wonderful platform .........
But do you think "Idealake" create its own ?
I doubt ???? What about you ?????????????????????????????????????

My friend if they were friends, then mr. Malick would not have been accused of copying.

People whose gt doubt on idealake's capability, please do ur proper homework abt organization......Website of the company may help u to do so.....Please use ur brains....

It is quite funny, true. I think clients would have forced for as similar a concept as possible and the agency would have done the easiest - use the same code, which is the best possible copy.

What should the agency have done - ask the producer to contact the MNIK agency?

... good thought - and add relevant credits too!

Take a good website, sprinkle in a few images and pour in some advertising.... shake well and take the credit !!!!

This seems to be the way of Percept making business .....

percept knorigin has always been in the business of copy paste. I am surprised they have gotten away with it for so long. I'm quite sure they will continue to do so.

...sour grapes.

has Priyadarshan the director of the movie done the same as his counterpart malik has done for the website.
interesting brief i say.

this is really hilarious. the 'copying' is so obvious. there can be no justification for this action at all.

A similar kind of web site does not necessarily mean exactly the same web site. after reading this article I went through the two web sites and it looks like an exact replica...I feel the only thing Percept Knorigin has done is changed the images.

This is completely outrageous. How can a creative agency copy and replicate someone else's creative work and code and take pride in showing it to the world!!

What other evidence does percept knorigin wants Just compare the website. this can be put as a quiz saying spot the difference trust me this will be a real tough one.

plagiarism is inspiration in india, not expected from Percept which holds a high ground in advertisement sector, another way to produce new liquor in USED bottled.

First percept was known for just copying films.
But now they have evn started copying tools of promotion ..please grow up..Buck up knorigin.

It’s a shame that a company has to stoop to such a low level and flout the laws of the digital age to get ahead; when the way forward surely is to revamp its HR team so that they can hire the creative power that they so obviously lack.

The website is a 100% copy, no doubts about it, it appears Percept Knorigin has just decompiled the code and changed the images. If anyone decompiles flash for both the websites i guess the proof is evident.

I completely agree!! Instead of Mr. Viraj Malik shrugging responsibility and asking someone to prove he should give an apology.

It will not even take a blind perosn to guess that they are exactly the same.

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

This is ridiculous. We hear about people copying an entire movie story or song( and they deny also )...but never heard about somebody copying an website. How come a reputed company do this? Percept Knorigin should apologize.

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

hahaha, too funny. As everyone knows, even copying requires some intelligence. Looks like Percept Knorigin has neither any creative abilities nor any IQ!! Glad Idealake has not taken this lying down and exposed the scam.

I wonder, has Percept Knorigin grown by copying other website designs and contents. If so I feel pity for their clients who are getting duplicated designs and codes.

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

Both websites look exactly similar, what other proof is needed..how can people copy some others creative work.

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

Percept Knorigin not only owes an apology to Idealake but to the entire creative world in the country and the world for such an act.....dont know how many more of such creative ideas they have been copying....

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

Yes, both the website are look similar...

SOME TIMES TRY TO HAVE ORIGINAL IDEA ALSO...

I think the film My Name Is Khan is released much before the release of Bumm Bumm Bole, so.....

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

This is incorrect.
100% site is copy.. Designed and functionality also..

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

even an insane can judge that knorigin has copied or rather stolen the complete design of idealake....
The creative team of knorigin need a long break.......

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

both the sites are very similar.this is very shameful on PERCEPT KNORIGIN part.
this has not expected from the company like PERCEPT KNORIGIN.

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

Knorigin guys,u can't even copy properly.... ur clients can take the business back....U r definitely caught this time...better luck next time..

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

No doubt it's a copy of My Name is Khan website !! Even a kid can make it out. If they call this an "inspiration", I think the creators of BummBummBole.com need to have re-look at the english dictionary.

.........What a pity !!!

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

forget about those codes..... they didn't even took efforts to change small simple graphics like buttons...it would have been such a difficult task for them .. i guess ..

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

I agree that BummBummBole.com has copied that content from mynameiskhanthefilm.I'm techie so i consider certain fact like BummBummBole.com site which was Created on: 11-Mar-10 where mynameiskhanthefilm was created on 16-feb-2009 .friend you can verify this fact from whois.so its clear that who has copied whose idea.
one more.....Viraj Malik is fan of anu malik cut-copy-pate ho gaya ready :)

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

hey.. pls... they have put both the analytics codes..
their as well as MNIK's.. :)
good efforts...

Everyone has written everything about what is copied and all but one thing i could figure out is even though the movie is releasing today why hasn't the music been uploaded on the site???? Ohhhh okkkk now i know they couldnt copy that code from My name is khan.

percept CEO seems to be ex Infosys,is that an indication of things happening at Infosys too.
the other founder seems to be ex Satyam,, what can we say.
TSK TSK shame shame copycat

Mr. Malick sure you had been asked to make a similar kind of web site...but that does not mean you make an exactly same web site.

If that is the case I wonder what kind of briefs and undertsnading of client requirements does your team take.

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

is Percept knorigin trying to pin this on Percept Pictures?

Submitted by Amir on

Hello! it is an publicity stunt by both the co's. so don't take tension,
By the way bum bum bhole looks better than My name is Khan
Enjoy people..............................................

Ketan..looks like you are from Percept Knorigin...If you copy from others does not mean others do the same...

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

if they are so sure, why are they not taking PK to court..? the two sites use similar template but so called creatives are totally different..may be bummbummbole website was designed earlier to MNIK

Lots of words are being used for Percept Knorigin. You guys better pull your socks and get into some ORM for your self. This discussion is certainly giving you viral publicity , but at the cost of your image. I hope being in digital business you understand how fast does these things spreads in online arena.

Good Luck to Percept Knorigin. You ppl got lots of work, for yourself.

Whoa, that was shameless!! Anyone who says this isnt a copy is either a liar or completely blind!
But it isnt surprising - jaisi film, vaisi website. The film is a total rip-off of an Iranian film (Children of Heaven) - right down to the scarf that the girl is wearing.
Pathetic!!!
I hope Idealake sues them for a huge sum!
