Homelane buys tech start-up Doowup for undisclosed sum
- Online modular kitchen and home furnishing solutions provider HomeLane has acquired tech start-up Doowup for an undisclosed amount.
-
- Doowup's founding team will join HomeLane and its founder, Vivek Seetharaman, will take up the role of chief innovation officer at the firm.
-
- "The (Doowup) team comes with great experience on photo real imaging, rendering and graphics, which we will leverage to give our user a better experience," said Srikanth Iyer, CEO at HomeLane. "We are working on a virtual reality walkthrough of a home, where in under 30 minutes, an individual can check out various options real time with cost."
-
- Founded in 2014, HomeLane.com is present in six cities and has 200 employees. It raised $4.5 million in funding from Sequoia Capital in February.
-
- On assuming his new position as Homelane, Seetharaman said, “I am delighted to join forces with Srikanth and hope that with Doowup’s added expertise, together we are able to make furnishing a more predictable and trustworthy experience.”

- In June, HomeLane.com launched a virtual reality-based device 'Kaleido', which allows users to envision different looks for their kitchens, bedrooms and living rooms in real time, thus helping them make an informed choice. The company said it is on track of recording $2.5 million of monthly gross merchandise value in the next three months.
