Aircel partners Tech Mahindra for Internet of Things services
- Aircel has selected Tech Mahindra to rollout a comprehensive set of Internet of Things (IoT) service offerings, according to a company statement.

- Tech Mahindra will be providing the services in association with Aeris Communications, a Silicon Valley-based IoT specialist.

- "Aircel's strong presence in enterprise market combined with the IoT solutions from Tech Mahindra will give an edge to position it as one of the leaders in machine-to-machine (M2M) and IoT services in India," the statement said.

- The telecom service provider intends to launch vertical-specific solutions in IoT space, and will cater to market requirement for comprehensive service offerings across several vertical market segments such as smart energy, connected vehicle, and smart cities, among others.

- Some of the benefits, which the enterprise customers will be able to drive home are the ability to predict consumer behaviour and trends, improve customer experience, enhance agility and flexibility, and increase safety and additional revenue streams.

With Tech Mahindra and Aeris, Aircel is well-poised to deliver on this through a comprehensive suite of M2M and IoT services," Suren Amarasekera, chief enterprise officer at Aircel, said.

- Aircel, meanwhile, has also introduced free basic Internet for all new customers, claimed to be first of its kind in India.

- The product has been specially designed keeping in view the dramatic increase of mobile data users, for whom data usage is as much a part of their daily lives as voice calling, said Sankara Narayanan, Strategic Head - South, Aircel.

- With this new product, Aircel subscribers will be able to browse and actively use their favourite applications such as WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter, besides accessing their daily-need applications like banks and travel, paying of utility bills, etc, he said.
