After Nirav Modi, PNB Image sinks further as 10000 PNB Customer Database is compromised
Punjab National Bank couldn’t have imagined this. They have yet to come out of brand beating that PNB took with the recent Nirav Modi Scam and another data breach of over 10000 credit and debit cards has been reported. As per the original report published in Asia Times, a Cyber Security firm has found out that the PNB Data is up for sale on the internet for almost last 3 months.
Rahul Sasi, co-founder of CloudSek, a Bangalore-Singapore based cybersecurity company said, “Close to 10,000 client details are for sale on the dark web which included names, emails, passwords, credit and debit card number, expiry dates, year, CVV number and the like”.
Sasi further added, “As of now it is difficult to ascertain the way they got hacked. It might have been through credit card details stored on the website, phishing emails, computers being hacked and the like.”
Sasi said two sets of data were released: some with CVV numbers and some without. The last date stamp on the data is 29 January 2018, indicating that the details are still current for thousands of card customers.
