yesterday i checked out dealite. looked like a very interesting website , a very different concept and something which would attract buyers with their low prices through bids.. what the buyers fail to understand is that the bids cost Rs 20 per bid.. in order to buy into an auction you have to have a fixed number of bids to get a seat . although you are given these bids to use in this auction but this process makes sure that these guys dont lose money because : no of bids to get into the auction x no of seats = the total product value.
also the auction that i saw. it had people biddle over 640 bids per person for an item costing 11900 rs for buy it now on dealite..what i fail to understand is that this comes out to be much higher than the costing of the actualy product. the samsung phone which they sold sold for 3790 rs : which in essentiality is 3790 bids which means 3790 x 20 = almost 76000 rs + 3790 rs which the winner has to pay of course : which is around 80000 rs . dealite manages to sell an item which is essentially for 11900 for around 80000 rs.. it is incredible and yet totally stupid for consumers to bid on them. why should the consumers be stupid. although i really admire the business model . its a win win situation.. and maybe if you just have to buy that item and you bid on it .. it makes sense so that even if you lose buy it now is always an option. but for the rest of us who just like to bid and win on ebay .. we should stick to ebay for a bit..
Finally I did participate in the auction (after forgetting once, where in i dint participate).
The experience i quite fun and thrilling, but soon you realize that you are throwing you money into a system that still needs to be tweaked and perfected and you can lose because of a system glitch and there is nothing u can do.
I participated in a Bid for 500GB GoFlex and in the thick of bidding suddenly the system declared a winner when there were 5 seconds of clear bid still left on the counter. I use a Airtel Broadband and my system is also dell xps15 so no issue with the counter getting stuck or loss of connectivity. So when i clicked on bid now, the page directly showed auction ended...
cont...
In fact i just used 13 bids of 26 free bids... So as long as u dont put too much money on it and are ready to lose all u have put, this is fun ;)
Would advise not to be greedy and push yourself in bidding high value auctions as its a complete gamble...

I am not very sure about the authenticity of such sites and the system they have in place. But these are days of internet and people who are behind look good... I hope its worth the time and money....
Also i will try out the seller side.... so lets see
By paid seats of bidders Delite collects in advance the full price of the auctioned item. Except winning bidder others are bound to lose until they buy their product. Business model is a win win for the dealite. They can fleece the cutomer once. Learned customer shall never opt for the bid.
After months and years for seeing crowding of the indian eComm space with me-too services, this seems to be a refreshing change to see a very unique & interesting ecomm model. Takes a little time to understand the concept - being so different from everyone else- but should say very disruptive. Way to go. Hope they add more products.
