Online grocery delivery service PepperTap raises seed round from Sequoia Capital

Mobile first hyper-local grocery delivery service PepperTap has reportedly raised an undisclosed amount in seed round from Sequoia Capital. 

Gurgaon based PepperTap is also reportedly in advance stages to close its next round of funding which is around $10 million, reports iamwire.

Recently, the company launched its mobile application on iOS platform as it is already available on Android platform. The service of PepperTap is currently available only in Gurgaon and is in the process of adding new service areas across Delhi NCR soon.

PepperTap have range of 5000 unique products including grocery & staples, fruits & vegetables and household goods with the promise of delivery within 2 hours or at customer’s preferred time slots. The company’s business model is unique to India and similar to Instacart in the US.

PepperTap is a location based platform that allows customers to shop from a catalog that is specific to their location. It is committed to make daily life easy and hassle­free for customers by offering them timely service, just when they need it.
 
Founded in 2014 by Navneet Singh and Milind Sharma, who were previsouly employed with another startup Delhivery, PepperTap allows a user to buy grocery, fruits & vegetables through the company’s app. The company claims to offer delivery in under 2 hours and offers free delivery on order above Rs 250.
 
The company connects directly with the local vendors and supermarkets to provide necessities to the public.
 
Earlier this year, BigBasket.com, a Bengaluru-based online grocery store had also announced that it is in final talks to raise around about Rs 100 crores from Venture Partners. Recently, Grocery retailer Godrej Nature’s Basket had acquired online grocer Ekstop at a deal value of Rs 30-40 crore.
