Mumbai based real estate portal Housing.co.in has secured its first round of funding by raising an undisclosed angel investment and has got as many as eight investors onboard. According to a report in YourStory, the investment was led by Zishaan Hayath (who’s the co-founder of the Future Bazaar acquired Chaupati Bazaar) and saw participation from other investors like Vaibhav Puranik, Shishir Kapoor, Hemanth Goteti, Gagan Goyal, Harsh Baid, Aditya Agarwal and Aatif Misbah.
Housing.co.in has achieved operational break even and the investment will be used to hire top talent and expand team size (currently 12), housing.co.in cofounder Advitya Sharma was quoted as saying by YourStory.
“We’re looking to bring A+ players into our team and we have already begun our hunt for these people at premier institutions in the country. Some of them will be joining our team soon,” Sharma said.
Zishan Hayath said that the main reason behind his investment was the strength of the team at housing.co.in, which executes at a fast pace.
“Even after 6 years, there isn’t a single portal that I can use to find an apartment to live in. This online real estate listing market is broken and I think there is space of a good product to dominate in this industry,” Hayath was quoted as saying in the report.
Housing.co.in is a location based listing of property available for rent started by 12 IIT-B alumni last year. The portal has a mobile website, an Android app and an iPhone app. It is owned and operated by Mumbai-based Locon Solutions Pvt Ltd, and currently lists rental flats only in and around Mumbai.
