Proto.in, the nations premier start-up platform returns to Chennai to the Great Lakes Institute of Management to showcase 15 of India’s hottest start-ups to an audience of entrepreneurs, investors, corporates and the media alike. With the growth of e-commerce and growing mobile penetration in the country, infrastructure hurdles which previously existed for start-ups to scale in India have reduced, this has seen the birth of a number of innovative products from sectors that leverage both the internet and the mobile phone. India is at a ‘tipping point’ of growth in the technology sector, this when coupled with a vibrant start-up and investor ecosystem makes this a unique moment in time for early stage entrepreneurs in the country. Proto.in will showcase the most innovative product companies with business models tailor made to leverage these sectors. Apart from mobile and internet, a variety of sectors will be represented with start-ups from sectors like clean technology and software also on display. Apart from the presentations by 15 of India’s hottest product start-ups, the agenda will consist of workshops, talks and panel discussions from a selection of India’s leading technologists, entrepreneurs, angel investors and venture capitalists. In addition to this, there will be a special mentoring session for 20 selected start-ups at the event by partners Sequoia Capital. Sequoia Capital has been one of the most active early and growth stage firms in India in the last several years, and looks to partner with entrepreneurs from the seed through growth stages. With 1 on 1 interaction with members of one of India’s premier venture capital firms, Entrepreneurs will have an opportunity to be mentored on various elements including their business model, go to market strategy and product. The entire event will be telecast on the ‘Starting Up’ show on ET NOW.
