It seems that the online fashion and beauty retailer UrbanTouch.com (which was acquired by FashionandYou last year for $30mn) has shut down its operations with its official Facebook page carrying message stating ‘We have stopped taking orders on our website. We thank all our customers for their valuable patronage. We loved serving you and hoped that we lived upto your expectations.’ The website has been shut today as per various posts posted by UrbanTouch users on its page. In an official response on the pending orders and replacement requests, the company has replied on its post saying 'All the pending refund requests and replacements will be taken care of.'
When we checked UrbanTouch.com, the message stated that ‘We have now integrated our operations with FashionandYou.com, India's largest online flash sales store. We once again thank you for appreciating our services and look forward to providing you excellent experience at FashionandYou.com’
Meanwhile, on clicking on UrbanTouch section on FashionandYou’s website same message was flashing till yesterday night stating that the website has been merged with FashionandYou. The section has been removed when we checked today morning. We have tried reaching CEO of Fashion and You, Abhishek Goyal no confirmation has been received from his end while filing this story. We will update the story as and when we get a confirmation.
In August 2012, online fashion ecommerce website, FashionandYou acquired Urban Touch for $30 million. The acquisition provided exit for Urban Touch’s investors – Tiger Global and Accel Partners who invested over Rs 20 crore in the company. UrbanTouch’s Co-Founder Abhishek Goyal took over as the CEO of Fashion and You.
It was decided that both the portals will continue to operate as two distinct websites but will have cross linkages. Urban Touch’s over 200 employees have joined the Fashion and You team. Urban Touch’s leadership team held stock in the combined entity.
