Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) introduced its e-wallet service for simpler online ticket booking.
E-wallet is a scheme under which user can deposit money in advance with IRCTC and can be used as payment option along with other payment options available on IRCTC for paying money at the time of booking tickets.
So far the payment options available for users which allow them to pay for online booking of tickets include netbanking, credit cards and debit cards.
Users can park a minimum balance of Rs. 100 and a maximum balance of Rs. 5000 in their e-wallets and the amount once deposited is non-refundable and can only be added in multiples of 100.
IRCTC's e-wallet will also allow users to search bookings by providing their date of journey.
For every e-wallet transaction IRCTC will collect an additional e-wallet transaction charge of Rs. 5. Booking will be allowed only when ticket amount is less than the balance amount.
Any refunds of the cancellation amount will be given in the e-wallet account the following day.
