Indian e-commerce company Flipkart has unveiled its Artificial Intelligence (AI) For India program. The company is planning to pay more attention on Artificial intelligence (AI) in 2018, this has been revealed by co-founder Sachin Bansal.
Artificial intelligence (AI) refers to machines carrying out tasks that are normally associated with human intelligence.
The company is planning to do investment and acquisition to intensify its effort, informed Bansal during an interview to a business news paper.
Bansal expects Flipkart to pump in hundred of millions of dollars to build AI and machine learning (ML) solutions that will manifest in the online retailer enhancing shopper experience, shortening time taken to fulfil deliveries, and address customer complaints.
Bansal feels that “This is the next big thing for us, where we are betting big on the use of AI and machine learning to solve problems at Flipkart. India’s problems are unique and we need to apply AI in the ecosystem to solve Indian problems. We believe that some of the focus areas for AI in developed countries cannot be applied for India. At Flipkart, we will solve problems differently because the underlying problems (in India) are different.”
“Artificial Intelligence is no longer the future. It is here. To build AI For India, to make Indians realize and reap the benefits of AI, data scientists and engineers must passionately embrace the mission of solving unique problems for India. And Flipkart is the best place to make a trailblazing career doing just that,” says Bansal.
