Instagram turning profitable for Indian advertisers
- Facebook is pushing Instagram as a profitable medium for advertisers in India, two months after opening up the online image and video sharing service to businesses here, the Times of India reported.

- Kirthiga Reddy, MD of Facebook India, said a large number of small and large companies including, P&G, Nestle, Grofers and Paperboat are profiting by their presence on Instagram.
-
- Instagram, owned by Facebook, has crossed 400 million active users globally, which is larger than microblogging site Twitter's 320 million active users. In India, it has doubled its number of active users over last year, according to senior Facebbok executives.

- "We have integrated the back-end advertising mechanism for Facebook and Instagram," Reddy told TOI, implying that with around 1.5 billion users, the world's largest social network site is pitching itself and Instagram as an integrated advertising vehicle to marketers.
-
- "It's running a campaign across both print and TV," said Reddy.

- Instagram has notched up impressive numbers for brands, according to research firm Nielsen. For instance, after being present on Instagram, Swiss food major Nestle's KitKat has witnessed a 42-point lift in ad recall, and a 10-point increase in message association for consumers in the age group of 15-17 years.
