Zomato has launched the Dubai section of its website with more than 3,500 restaurants and is planning to add more cities in Middle East and South East Asia by the end of 2012. In addition, the company has also extended its presence within India from 10 to 12 cities with the launch of its Lucknow and Indore sections.

The Dubai section has more than 3,500 restaurants ranging from cafeterias to restaurants at 7 Star Hotels. The platform also provides scanned menus, photos and coordinates for most of the restaurants listed on Zomato Dubai, along with other relevant information such as ratings, reviews and contact details. Zomato has also expanded further within India and has launched Lucknow and Indore with over 600 and 400 restaurants respectively.

Deepinder Goyal, CEO, Zomato, said “It has been a very exciting journey since July 2008, building and scaling up Zomato within India. We are now extending our services to Dubai, one of the most popular business and tourist destinations globally, which is an excellent market to expand into. We currently have a 12-person content team in place in Dubai and are looking at hiring around 10 people in sales over the next quarter. The Dubai launch is our first step beyond Indian borders and we have a couple other International cities in the pipeline by the end of the year. That said, we are looking to further increase our coverage within India as well.”

Zomato is now 4 years old and claims to get more than 4 Million users every month. Zomato was founded by Deepinder Goyal and Pankaj Chaddah in July 2008 for Delhi NCR and over the four years has expanded its services to 13 cities (12 in India and 1 in UAE). Info Edge has invested over $6.5M in Zomato since 2010. Zomato has recently forayed into print as well with the Citibank Zomato Restaurant Guide 2012. Headquartered in New Delhi, the company currently employs 150 people.
