CMO of Zomato Rameet Arora has quit the company.

CMO of Zomato Rameet Arora has quit the company. The company confirmed the same to us through an e-mail. Last year, Arora replaced former Zomato CMO Alok Jain, who had quit in July last year, just 10 months after his appointment. 

Arora joined Zomato in September last year from McDonald’s India where he worked as the Senior Director, Corporate Communication, Menu Management. After a 4 year stint with McDonald’s, Arora quit in July 2014. 

Prior to joining McDonald’s in 2010, Arora was a part of the founding team of Hindi GEC Colors. At Colors, Arora dealt with branding, consumer pull, launch of upcoming shows and sustained affinity of the channel.

In 1996, Arora began his career in advertising at Arms Communications. He later joined Rediff for almost a year and did a short stint at McCann-Erickson as well.

In 2000, he joined Leo Burnett as senior account supervisor. Arora was with Leo Burnett for more than eight years. During that span, he worked as director, corporate initiatives and spearheaded the recruitment and reputation drive. Arora handled brands such as McDonald’s, Hitachi, UTI, Future Group, Asia Pacific Breweries, Heinz and Complan during his tenure in the advertising world.

Prior to McDonald’s, Arora worked as the marketing head at Viacom 18’s Colors TV channel for a little over 2 years, where he was also a member of Colors’ founding team and was responsible for new show launches, consumer pull and branding. He also worked as the VP and director of corporate initiatives at ad agency Leo Burnett for about 8.5 years where he had joined in 2000 as a senior account supervisor. Arora started his career at Arms Communications in 1996, after which he moved to Rediff for close to a year, followed by a short stint at McCann-Erickson.

Last month, Zomato appointed former CEO of Network18 Digital Durga Raghunath as its Senior Vice President of growth. In her new role, Raghunath would be responsible for customer acquisition and retention across the globe. She will also work with the founding team on Zomato’s online ordering, table reservations and restaurant POS.
