Zapak wins award for developing Laadli game

Gaming site Zapak.com has won United Nations Population Fund – Laadli National Award for Creative Excellence for Social Change. Zapak has won the award for developing a question-answer game called Laadli that checks the player’s knowledge on issues such as female foeticide, sex ratios and sex selection.

Zapak has won the award for developing a question-answer game called Laadli that checks the player’s knowledge on issues such as female foeticide, sex ratios and sex selection.

The game was developed for Population First, a Mumbai-based NGO working on social issues related to population control and women’s rights. According to Rohit Sharma, chief operating officer, Zapak.com, the company will create more games to address social issues that are relevant to society.

S V Sista, founder and executive trustee, Population First, has said, “A game allows people to participate and create awareness about a social cause more easily and we targeted the youth as they are the next generation, about to become parents.” [Source: Afaqs]
