Online gaming company Zapak Digital Entertainment, which is a part of Reliance ADAG group, plans to increase the number of Zapak Gameplexes by introducing a franchise model in smaller towns and cities. In 2007, Zapak had announced to set-up 250 Gameplexes across the country by the end of March 2008.

But so far the company has managed to set-up only 21 Gameplexes in metros and smaller cities including Jaipur, Indore, Pune, Chandigarh, Ahmedabad and Lucknow. Now, with the help of its franchises Zapak intends to have 300 Gameplexes by the end of 2008.

According to Rohit Sharma, COO, Zapak Digital Entertainment, Zapak Gameplexes normally have 40-50 seats each and enjoy an occupancy rate of 50-55 per cent. He also claims that on an average a gamer spends 3-4 hours at these Gameplexes at a stretch.

When asked if there was a conflicting business interest with Reliance ADAG’s R-World that also allow gaming in their cafes, Rohit Sharma told AlooTechie, “Although R-Worlds allow gaming, they have a horizontal business model where they also sell mobile phones, allow video conferencing and gaming. We, at Gameplexes, have a vertical business model and are very focused on gaming.”
