Zapak ties up with Jagex Games to launch RuneScape in India

Zapak Digital Entertainment, in association with UK-based Jagex Games Studio, has launched a massively multiplayer online game RuneScape in India. The game is claimed to have been played by over 150 million gamers worldwide since it was first launched in 2001.

Rohit Sharma, COO, Zapak Digital Entertainment, has said, “RuneScape is amongst the top online games in the world. With over 6 million users a month it is the world’s second largest MMOG. We are very excited to exclusively launch this game in India.”

Describing India as an important market for the company, Rob Smith, chief operating officer, Jagex Games Studio, has said, “RuneScape has been developed to appeal to multiple demographics and it will make its mark in India.”

“Indian gaming industry is growing very fast and according to the recent FICCI-KPMG Media & Entertainment Industry Report, the gaming industry is expected to grow over four-fold to reach Rs 27.4 billion in 2013,” Rob Smith has added.

Zapak RuneScape has also partnered with MTV Roadies 7 as an official game for the popular reality show. The game play for RuneScape for the first seven levels incorporates the seven sins of the MTV Roadies journey.
