Zapak launches gaming CDs ‘to beat lukewarm response for its downloadable games’

Zapak Digital Entertainment, which owns gaming portal Zapak.com, has started selling gaming CDs “to beat the lukewarm response for its downloadable online games segment”. Zapak has already released 150,000 CDs priced between Rs 49 and Rs 99 depending on the publisher, gameplay and the artwork.

“The downloadable games business is taking time to take-off. Issues like robust payment mechanisms and people’s reservation to pay online are some of the reasons for slow adoption.     I don’t know about how good the response has been to downloading of games, but i’m pretty satisfied with online payment bit. i hv downloaded a couple of games frm zapak, but the added CD bonus is good.

    LoL……It shows the inexperience of the top team handling zapak.
    Anyone related to games websites know that download games r disaster for revenues.
    This shows they havent done their homework.
    And can someone tell them that cd sales will be bigger disaster.
    Specially in India where the targeted audiance still doesnt have any credit cards.
    May God help ADAG in cyber world.

    Agreed the target audience doesn’t hv CCs to their disposal but cash and loose change is certainly not an issue with most kids these days. a tantrum here and a bit of luring helps them to get what they want. the point is if one kid’s got a game, his friend must have it to. But as research suggests most of the buying decisions at home are influenced by the kids thanks to the promos shown on kids channels…Zapak shouldn’t hv a problem with selling the games to kids.
