YouTube signs revenue sharing deal with Hollywood filmmaker Lions Gate

Google-owned video sharing site YouTube has entered into a deal with Hollywood film studio Lions Gate Entertainment to share revenue from ads that Google places on Lions Gate movies’ clips uploaded on YouTube by its users or the studio itself.

“We will have advertising around the clips and a link for electronic sell-through,” Michael Burns, vice chairman, Lions Gate, has said. “There are things in our library like Dirty Dancing that have been watched tens of millions of times and it will be nice to get paid for that and to set viewers in the direction of buying movies.” [Source: Reuters]
