Yahoo launches localized version of Yahoo Go 3.0 for India

Yahoo has introduced localized versions of Yahoo Go 3.0 for India, Australia and Southeast Asia, including a local language version for Indonesia, and an English version of Yahoo oneSearch with voice that recognizes regional accents.

Yahoo has introduced localized versions of Yahoo Go 3.0 for India, Australia and Southeast Asia, including a local language version for Indonesia, and an English version of Yahoo oneSearch with voice that recognizes regional accents.

Yahoo oneSearch with voice, currently available for select BlackBerry devices including the 8800 series, Curve and Pearl, allows users to search for anything by simply speaking into their devices. According to Yahoo, oneSearch with voice is capable of understanding, disambiguating and learning accents localized for India and Singapore.

The company has also launched mobile widgets including Yahoo Cricket, Yahoo Answers and Showtimes (Yahoo India Movies), as well as a MTV Asia mobile widget featuring news updates and music charts for the Asia Pacific region.

Yahoo has also entered into partnership with Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited under which Yahoo’s mobile search service oneSearch will be the preferred search service on MTNL’s mobile internet sites. Yahoo had earlier signed similar deals with Idea Cellular, Reliance Communication, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), Aircel and BPL Mobile.
