WhtasApp outage hit users globally

"WhatsApp users around the world experienced a brief outage on New Year's Eve that got resolved soon", a WhatsApp spokeswoman was quoted as saying by media reports.

Facebook-owned mobile messaging app WhatsApp being used by more than 1 billion people every day to stay connected with their family and friends stopped working for a brief period globally just when entire world ushered into New Year.

However, the problem got resolved immediately. But, cause of the outage was not disclosed by the company.

“WhatsApp users around the world experienced a brief outage on New Year’s Eve that got resolved soon”, a WhatsApp spokeswoman was quoted as saying by media reports.

In India, its biggest market with about 200 million of its billion-plus users, the app was down just a few minutes past midnight into the new year.

A similar WhatsApp outage was also reported in 2015 on the New Year’s Eve.

WhatsApp stopped working on the BlackBerry OS and BlackBerry 10 and Windows Phone 8.0 and older from December 2017.
