Facebook-owned WhatsApp, which is used by a billion people worldwide, will stop working on the BlackBerry OS and BlackBerry 10 and Windows Phone 8.0 and older by December 2017. This was disclosed in a blog post.
“This was a tough decision for us to make, but the right one in order to give people better ways to keep in touch with friends, family, and loved ones using WhatsApp,” reads the post.
It means some features may stop functioning at any time on above mentioned device as WhatsApp would no longer actively develop for these platforms.
A similar move was also announced by WhtasApp in December last year as well when it ended support for older mobile operating systems including from BlackBerry and Nokia.
WhtasApp has more than 1 billion people in over 180 countries use WhatsApp to stay in touch with friends and family, anytime and anywhere. WhatsApp is free and offers simple, secure, reliable messaging and calling, available on phones all over the world.
