WeChat launches ‘WeChat Games’ and announces partnership with AskMe

WeChat, mobile based text and voice
message announced the launch of WeChat Games with version 5.1 release and its
partnership with the local search engine AskMe for the opening of its official account
on WeChat.

Explaining the idea behind the launch of
WeChat Games, an official statement said that the launch of WeChat Games on
Version 5.1 are an extension of WeChat’s core philosophy of providing its users
with an ‘All In One’ app experience.

on WeChat.

Explaining the idea behind the launch of
WeChat Games, an official statement said that the launch of WeChat Games on
Version 5.1 are an extension of WeChat’s core philosophy of providing its users
with an ‘All In One’ app experience.

There are four games which have been
rolled out – ‘GunZ Dash’; ‘2Day’s Match’; ‘Craz3 Match’ & ‘Pencil Pilot’.
Users can discover the games on WeChat and can download on their smartphones
separately from the respective platform app stores. WeChat users can play the
games, share their scores, post their achievements and invite their friends to
join the games.

The games are also enabled with location
based services, by which the users can challenge their nearby friends and other
users on WeChat. Users can also buy add-on items though in-app purchases to
bolster their in-game capabilities.

Speaking on WeChat Games on Version 5.1, Nilay Arora, Vice-President, Marketing and
Business Development, 10c India Internet Private Ltd. said, “WeChat is a global pioneer in creating an
ecosystem of user communication, value added by richer experiences of games, interactive
services on top of official accounts and more. Launch of WeChat Games on
Version 5.1 is a step towards creating deeper engagements within the platform
for users and their friends. With Games like GunZ Dash, Craz3 Match and more,
Indian WeChat users can now enjoy a seamless social mobile gaming experience
like never before. Along with this, enhancements in WeChat version 5.1 such as
capability to increase group chat members to 100 and release of ‘StoryCam for
WeChat’ means that there is never a boring moment in an Indian youth’s life
using WeChat.” 

Partnership
with AskMe

Tencent’s mobile app WeChat also announced
a partnership with AskMe with the launch of its official account – ‘AskMeSearch’
on WeChat. WeChat
users will now be able to access online information on SMEs
across local search, deals and classifieds through their WeChat application.
AskMe from Getit Infomedia is a local search engine available across mobile,
voice and web platforms.

Users can post their classifieds through
voice apart from web and mobile and these ads will now be available to WeChat
users in India. AskMe will provide information on the trending restaurants,
deals of the day. It will also feature classifieds on vehicles, mobile,
property and jobs.
