Viber brings its application to Chrome OS

After adding video calling to its mobile apps late last year, instant messaging and calling application Viber has now come to the chrome operating system. 

Viber for Chrome OS makes text, voice and video chats available to Chromebook and Chromebox users, reports TheNextWeb. Voice and video calls between Viber users are free, while calls to landline numbers have a fee.

In addition to Chrome OS, Viber can be found on OS X, Windows, BlackBerry, Linux, Android and iOS.

Earlier this month, Viber claimed that it has crossed 40 million registered users in India and in February had 300 million registered users and 105 million monthly active usersglobally. 

In February 2014, Viber was acquired by Japanese membership-based Internet services company Rakuten for $900 million.
