Taxi-hailing app
service Uber has launched intercity services, starting with shuttle services
between Mumbai and Pune. In a
blog,
the company introduced the service, named uberINTERCITY, and said that it will
be offered for a limited time ‘until further notice’.

The customers
will be required to have a balance of Rs 3,999 in their PayTM wallets to
request a cab, which is the cost of the service.

Apart from this,
users will also be able to split the fare with others if they wish to do so.
Users can split fares by tapping the ‘up arrow’ next to the driver’s info,
selecting ‘split fare’ and then selecting their friends. The selected users get
a text message prompting them to download the app and sign up. Here they can
confirm they want to split the fare. The app then automatically splits the fare
and deducts the shared amount from user accounts.

The company
recently turned one in Mumbai and celebrated the journey so far. In a blog post, Uber announced ‘The Road Ahead’ for the company
in Mumbai. The company said, “Today, we’re a growing team on a mission to
empower millions in Mumbai with reliable, convenient and affordable
transportation, that’s for everyone.”
