Twitter in talks to buy live streaming app Periscope

Popular micro-blogging site Twitter has reportedly been in talks to purchase live streaming app Periscope, reports TechCrunch, citing sources.

According to the report, the talks are in early stages and an undisclosed source pegs the possible deal at around $100 million. 

Periscope, which is similar to Meerkat, allows people to fire up live video wherever they are and broadcast it to allow people to watch it.

According to the report, the live streaming app would be a natural fit for Twitter to acquire as it’s right in line with its real-time tentpole. 

Periscope will allow users to broadcast certain personal events to their family member or a small group of people imparting functionality similar to Facetime. The application will deliver a much informal way of broadcasting events to the users and yet remains highly intuitive.
