Surya Mantha quits Network18; joins Omidyar Network as Director, Investments

Surya Mantha, former executive director, convergence, Network18, has joined the philanthropic investment firm Omidyar Network as director, investments. Established in 2004 by eBay founder Pierre Omidyar and his wife Pam, Omidyar invests in and helps scale innovative organizations to catalyze economic and social change.

Established in 2004 by eBay founder Pierre Omidyar and his wife Pam, Omidyar invests in and helps scale innovative organizations to catalyze economic and social change.

Mantha had joinedin Network18 in October 2006 as chief executive officer of the group’s internet and mobile arm Web18, which currently runs websites like In.com, IBNLive.com and MoneyControl.com. Prior to that he was at Sify India, where he headed the company’s portal business as senior vice president, interactive services.

In January 2010, Network18 had appointed Lakshmi Narasimhan as CEO of Web18 and posted Surya Mantha as executive director, convergence, Network18. While talking about his new role at Omidyar Network, Mantha has said, “I will focus on investment areas related to digital media, consumer internet, mobile value added services and mobile payments.” [Source: Afaqs]
