Snapdeal names Anup Vikal as new CFO

    • Snapdeal did
      not have a full-time CFO after Aakash Moondhra quit earlier this year.

    • At Aircel,
      Vikal was responsible for building business through revenue growth,
      implementing massive cost optimization, restructuring of debt and capital,
      improving the credit rating of the company and interfacing with the government
      and the telecom regulator. He has also worked in companies such as Bharti
      Airtel and InterGlobe Enterprises and has 23 years of experience in finance,
      strategy and corporate governance in several industries.

    • Vikal holds
      a bachelor’s degree in engineering from NIT, Surat and a master’s degree in
      business administration from South Gujarat University.

    • “E-commerce
      is a dynamic and interesting space to work with and my focus will be to ensure
      we are financially well-positioned yet nimble so that we can continue to create
      value for our customers, sellers, investors and employees,” said Vikal in a
      statement.

    • Snapdeal has
      been hiring a lot of people for executive roles of late. It recently hired
      former Bharti Retail executive Hardeep Singh as head of infrastructure, former
      Bharti Airtel executive Anand Chandrasekaran as its chief product officer and
      former Procter & Gamble executive Amit Choudhary as its senior
      vice-president of corporate finance.

    • Snapdeal was
      founded by Kunal Bahl and Rohit Bansal as a daily deals platform, selling
      coupons to groups of customers. It transformed into a marketplace in 2011,
      first offering services and then adding a wide range of products including
      apparel, books and electronics through third-party merchants.
