Smile Group’s SVG Media buys Komli Media in India

Gurgaon-based SVG
Media (Smile Group) has bought the India business of Komli Media. SVG Media
founder and CEO Manish Vij had tweeted about the development.

The news was
confirmed to Medianama
by Vij and Komli co-founder Amar Goel. Post the deal, Komli will continue to
operate as an independent unit along with SVG Media’s other units—Tyroo Technologies,
DGM and SeventyNine.

operate as an independent unit along with SVG Media’s other units—Tyroo Technologies,
DGM and SeventyNine.

According to an Economic
Times
report, around 100 employees will join SVG as part of the deal. Komli
India, SVG’s fourth acquisition, brings in 60 million unique users taking SVG’s
reach to 150 million internet users in India.

“Social was
a very important piece for us as commerce today happens through mobile. Komli
had the social piece, and so we acquired it,” CEO Manish Vij of SVG, who
told the Economic Times that SVG has been in talks with Komli for the past five
months.

Recently, telecommunications company Axiata Group Bhd entered into a sale and
purchase agreement with Komli Media Inc for the acquisition of entire
stake of Komli Asia Holding (Komli Asia) for $ 11.25 million.

Komli was founded in 2006 in India, and is the Asia Pacific’s leading digital
media technology platform, specializing in digital marketing, performance
advertising, social media, brand solutions/advertising, search marketing and
video solutions.

Mumbai-based Komli has offices across India and Asia Pacific region. It also
has operations in the South East Asian markets, such as Hong Kong, Thailand,
Singapore and Malaysia. The operations here are carried out through subsidiary
and associates companies held by Komli Asia (Komli Asia Group).
