Smartron to launch Internet-of-Things business in India by Christmas

      been operating under a stealth mode for the last nine months, plans to
      introduce IoT devices, smartphones, tablets and high-end computers.

    • The firm is funded by
      Indian and global corporates, angel investors and financial institutions,
      Lingareddy told
      ET, adding that a
      total of $100 million investment is going towards the venture. “We
      continue to spend and raise money to scale production. In coming 24 months,
      some money has to be raised. We would need $20 million more to establish the
      brand,” he said.

    • The firm is bringing
      small teams and companies on a single platform for end-to-end offerings, and to
      aggregate all IoT products.

    • “This is going
      to be an app store for hardware,” he said, explaining how the company aims
      to aggregate products from India
      and abroad.

    • Lingareddy also said
      there will be synergies between Smartron and Soft Machines, which is valued at
      over $1 billion and has teams in India
      and the US.

    • Smartron will target
      mobile, home and enterprise infrastructure segments. It plans to develop 12 to
      14-inch ultra books along with other IoT products for the enterprise segment,
      and is exploring partnerships with channel partners to reach maximum
      enterprises.
