Shopper’s Stop partners FreeCharge to enable wallet services for payment

    • As part of the partnership, Shopper’s Stop customers will have the
      option to use their FreeCharge wallet to make payments across all Shopper’s
      Stop stores in the country, as well as on the web store www.shoppersstop.com.

    • The partnership will also extend to the Shopper’s Stop group companies
      including 17 outlets of HyperCity, 95 stores of Crossword and 19 stores of
      HomeStop across India.

    • “FreeCharge wallet is a step jump in the payment experience. We
      envision the future of payments to be digital and it is going to be all
      pervasive,” said Govind Rajan, COO, FreeCharge and Chief Strategy Officer,
      Snapdeal.

    • Shopper’s Stop had recently announced the partnership with Snapdeal, and
      it has already paved the way for its omni-channel journey. This partnership
      with FreeCharge will further amplify the efforts in narrowing the gap between
      online and offline shopping experience for customers, Shopper’s Stop said.

    • Govind Shrikhande, Managing Director, Shopper’s Stop, said, “We
      have partnered with FreeCharge to offer our customers the option to use a
      mobile wallet to complete their shopping journey. With the addition of the
      FreeCharge wallet, our customers will now have multiple payment options. We
      believe this alliance with FreeCharge will give a fillip to the growth of our
      omni-channel business.”

    • FreeCharge was founded in 2010 by Kunal Shah and Sandeep Tandon, and has
      received funding of over $120 million in the last 4 years. In the largest
      acquisition in the consumer Internet space yet, Snapdeal acquired FreeCharge in
      April, 2015.

    • The company claims to have 27 million registered users, making more than
      5 transactions per month per user.
