Vijay Mallya’s T20 team Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has launched an online campaign, called the Royal Send Off where fans can send in a ‘Gift of Motivation’ to their favourite player or the whole team and also win an opportunity where the most fanatic fans will get to meet their favourite players. Fans can send a message and upload their gift in the form of a video, audio, a song, or a painting.

The best 100 gifts will get shortlisted and the top 50 of them will be selected to go to Bangalore to actually present their ‘Gift of Motivation’ to the team or the player and spend an evening with them. The RCB team will judge the entries from the backend and moderate the entries. The initiative was launched on August 13, 2010 and will be live till August 25, 2010. Till date, the campaign has attracted 130 ‘Gifts of Motivation’ from fans.

According to Experience Commerce, the digital agency handling the RCB website, the idea behind the ‘Royal Send Off’ is that as the Champions League Twenty20 (CLT20) is being held in South Africa in 2010 and RCB playing so far away from home, there was a need for the fans to be able to personally motivate their favourite players and give them the royal send off the team deserves.

“The fans at RCB are very passionate and emotional about the club. They have always wanted to be a part of everything that RCB does and we help them get as close to the team as we can. This time, we came up with the idea of the Royal Send Off which gives fans a chance to bid adieu to their favourite players as they leave for South Africa for the CLT20. The icing on the cake is the opportunity to also present them with ‘Gift of Motivation’ and spend an evening with the players,” Rajesh Chokhani, creative director, Experience Commerce, has told AlooTechie.
