Reliance Communications, Aircel likely to merge mobile business

      potential merger would be “to mutually derive the expected substantial
      benefits of incountry consolidation, including opex and capex synergies and
      revenue enhancement,” said a statement by Reliance Communications.

    • According to sources
      close to the development, after the merger of MTS
    • and RComm in
      November, and now the proposed merger of Aircel wireless
    • business, the three
      operations would be demerged into a separate company.
    •  
    • The potential deal
      will exclude Reliance Communications’ tower and optical fibre assets for which
      a separate sale process is ongoing, the statement said.
