RedBus claims to have sold 1 cr bus tickets in India; reaches 2 mn user base

Bangalore-based online bus ticket booking
platform RedBus.in has claimed that the platform has so far sold more than one
crore bus seats in India. The company said that it has reached 2 million
registered customers base in the country. The company allows booking of tickets
for over 10,000 bus routes across India operated by more than 700 bus
operators. The company has also announced a tie up with Rajasthan State Road Transport
Corporation (RSRTC) to sell their bus tickets.

Phanindra Sama, Founder and CEO, RedBus.in,
said, “These trends have enabled the company to grow at an average rate of 250
per cent Year on Year for last 5 years. This is the reason why we enjoy a very
loyal customer base and this trust is now demonstrated by the fact that we are
the only one to have sold over one crore bus seats.”

RedBus.in was founded in 2006 and was
self-funded by Phanindra Sama, Charan Padmaraju and Sudhakar Pasupunuri. The
Company raised its first capital in 2007 from Seedfund Advisors, an early stage
investor and their second investment in 2009 from Seedfund, Helion and Inventus
Capital. RedBus today has 400 employees and 18 offices spread across India.
