PayPal ties-up with NCR to offer services in restaurants, gas stations

EBay’s online payment business, PayPal has partnered with ATM
Company NCR Corporation to expand in the physical retail space. Now users can
use PayPal service into restaurants and gas stations. PayPal’s mobile service
will also be integrated with NCR’s point-of-sale, or POS, technology to allow
diners to pay for their meal at restaurants using a smartphone.

NCR’s Convenience-Go application has been integrated with
PayPal service which can be used by users to buy fuel, food, and pay for car
washes.

PayPal is teaming up with providers of payment technology and
services that are already installed in physical stores, helping it expand more
quickly. NCR’s customer base includes 38 per cent of the top 100 US restaurant
chains and 50 per cent of the major retail chains.

The companies have also said that NCR’s Advanced Marketing
Solution (AMS) loyalty and offer management system with the PayPal digital
wallet. This integration will enable consumers to “check in” on their mobile
devices as they start shopping to take advantage of shopping lists as well as
digital redemption of coupons and special offers when they pay.
