US-based micro-blogging service Twitter has said that over 60 per cent of its registered users come from outside US. The company has further informed that signups in India have almost doubled since the beginning of 2010.

Matt Sanford, lead engineer, international team, Twitter, has said, “Signups in India have increased nearly 100 per cent since the beginning of 2010 due in part to politicians like Shashi Tharoor and Bollywood mega-stars Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra and Abhishek Bachchan.”

“Twitter’s realtime information network gets more useful as our users grow more diverse and we are continually impressed with the results,” Matt Sanford has added. “The international team is small but we are dedicated to making Twitter easier to use all over the world.”
