Mumbai based online cab booking service OlaCabs has launched
a mobile application which allows users to book a cab on Android smart
phones.  According to the company, the
iPhone version will be launched next week and the Blackberry version in a
month.

Customers can book the nearest Olacab and track its movement
towards them. The app also provides users instantaneous confirmation of booking
along with necessary details like the name of the cab driver and vehicle
number, distance from the user’s location as well as expected time taken to
reach the location. It also tracks and shows the real time movement of the cab
from its location to the location of the customer, on a map. Registered users
can also maintain a credit balance with Olacabs and use the service through the
app as and when needed, without having to pay for the trip.

Bhavish Aggarwal, Co-founder and CEO, OlaCabs, said, “We are
very excited to be the first in India to be able to offer cab services through
a mobile app. This app is a rare instance of technology innovation that
directly impacts all stake holders in an offline industry and with its sheer
simplicity has the potential to be a game changer in the largely unorganized
cab industry in India”.

Currently Olacabs operates in Mumbai and will be launching its
operations in Delhi and Bangalore this month. By the end of the year, they plan
to offer services in 10 cities across India and the app will be available from
day one of the launch, in each of these cities.

In April 2012, OlaCabs.com had raised Series A
funding from Tiger Global Management, a New York-based investment firm with
investments in leading consumer internet companies in India. In April 2011, the
company had received an undisclosed amount of angel investment from Rehan yar
Khan, Anupam Mittal and several others.
