Naukri.com: Job Index indicates 8.38% rise in new hiring in Nov 2009

According to a study by Info Edge India’s job portal Naukri.com, the job market witnessed an increase of 8.38 per cent in new hiring in November 2009, as compared with a decline of 3.9 per cent in October 2009. According to Info Edge India, November 2009 saw the highest job index since March 2009, thus indicating a buoyant hiring sentiment across all industries and experience buckets.

According to a study by Info Edge India’s job portal Naukri.com, the job market witnessed an increase of 8.38 per cent in new hiring in November 2009, as compared with a decline of 3.9 per cent in October 2009. According to Info Edge India, November 2009 saw the highest job index since March 2009, thus indicating a buoyant hiring sentiment across all industries and experience buckets.

“As this year heads towards an optimistic finish, new horizons seem to ensure a promising year ahead. These are reflected in an improved and encouraging business sentiment thus clearly indicating there has been a steady revival at the job scenario. The next step is to look for a contained momentum towards recovery,” Sumeet Singh, national head, marketing and communications, Info Edge India, has said.

JobSpeak, an index that showcases the current job scenario, states that the overall job index in November 2009 was 760, as compared to 701 in October 2009 and 1000 in the base month of July 2008. The index has been calculated based on new jobs added to Naukri.com month on month. According to Info Edge India, more than 34,000 national and international clients used Naukri.com in 2008-2009, leading to high reliability of data.
